Foreign Languages

OK, girls. I've been posting up a storm recently. Crazy. Very crazy. Well, I'm back today with a random fact about me. I love to learn foreign languages. I can speak some Spanish, some German, and a very tiny bit of French. Lately, I have had the foreign language itch. I think I want to learn a new language, but I seriously cannot decide what to learn. I am so torn. I mean, I could definitely use a refresher in the languages I've already begun to learn. But, there are so many other languages out there to learn. I've always wanted to learn Italian, and now that I am studying the Bible so much, I would love to learn Hebrew and Greek. So, I don't know. Decisions, decisions, decisions. What I do know, is that I want to use Rosetta Stone software this time around. I've heard it's the best out there. Have any of y'all used it?
So, what do you think? Do you speak another language? If so, what one? If not, what language did you always want to learn? And, what language do you think I should learn? I'm interested in hearing your opinions!

Yeah English is tough for me some days!! lol But I would love to learn Greek ~~ really. The Greek and Hebrew languages are so complex and they mean what they say ~~ if ya know what I mean. Their words don't have double meaning. If it means something different, it is another word. I just love studying the Bible using my Greek and Hebrew Bible software.

So that's my thoughts man :0)

I think you would have a pretty easy time with Italian, since you have had a lot of Spanish. You could also try Latin. That would help your studies.

Hi - just came across your post about languages. I studied Italian for 4 years at University starting in 2000. Amazing language and not too dissimilar from Spanish, so you will be fine picking it up.
You may sometimes speak Spanish/Italian though - because they are so similar....you won't know which language you are speaking..hehe
As regards how to study. I would recommend Rosetta Stone if you wanted to pick up some vocab, but I don't think this is where you want to improve. You probably want to know how to converse in Italian - which Rosetta won't really help you do. Why don't you try another online learning tool/social network. You can study with other people/teachers on Skype classes (some free) at websites like livemocha.com & babbel.com...Or, if you want to learn on your own, you can use an educational podcast like ItalianPod (http://italianpod.com) where you will learn really how to use the language...
I say these other language sites, because they provide more comprehensive solutions to your learning needs - which an expensive rosetta may not...
hope this helps

The only thing I remember from Spanish class is "Me hombre toca la guitara." I guess you know that means "My husband plays the guitar." HA! That is awesome that you want to learn another language! I truly admire that!

i studied sign language for a year when i wanted to be an interpreter. i loved it and wish i still did it. i agree with someone else's comment that you should do greek or hebrew. i have always enjoyed learning the original text of the Bible during different studies and sermons and stuff. good luck to ya! keep us updated on if the rosetta stone thing works out.

Bryan has heard great things about the Rosetta Stone software. I would vote for a study on Greek or Hebrew. You may never speak it but it would come in very helpful for an indepth, expository study of God's Word.
